Kochi: The police team which investigated the mysterious death of three schoolgirls of Konni in July last year has closed the case as suicide. The cops informed Kerala High Court that none had abetted the suicide. The police are yet to file the final report before the trial court in Pathanamthitta. Referring to the post-mortem report, the police also submitted that the girls were not sexually abused.
Mr S. Rafeek, DySP of Adoor, filed a report through state attorney P. Vijaaraghavan. Three girls, Athira R. Nair, S. Raji and Arya K. Suresh, went missing from their schools on July 9. The bodies of two of them were found on the railway track near Lakkidi, Palakkad. The third girl, Arya K. Suresh, died in the hospital. The investigation disclosed that the girls had jumped from the train one by one. The scene mahazar proved that the first one was Arya, then Athira and the last was Raji.
The cops analysed their interaction with friends on the social media also. The investigation revealed that they were depressed over a number of issues, including family and teenage problems. “The writings in the diaries of Arya and Raji as well as the Facebook chat history revealed that they were depressed over family issues, immature love affairs, disappointments, financial insecurity and inferiority complex. They had also mentioned about committing suicide.
The police report stated that the scientific reports of a girl's mobile revealed that she was in love with a boy but they had never met personally. They decided to meet for the first time at Pathanamthitta on July 11, 2015. But the suicide occurred before that, the police said.
