Telangana man dies in Algeria

Md Aktharuddin, 31, had started working with Samsung engineering on January 3 of this year and he was on a contract visa.

Hyderabad: A resident of Bhainsa, Adilabad, who had moved to Algeria in North Africa to work with a private company was found dead in his room under suspicious circumstances.

Md Aktharuddin, 31, had started working with Samsung engineering on January 3 of this year and he was on a contract visa. Those close to him said he was “extremely happy” with the job.

“But on the day before news of his death arrived, he had called saying he’s quitting his Algeria job because he had found another job in Kuwait. We were all waiting for more news until his HR manager, one Sunil Jacob, called saying he was found dead in his room,” Md Akbar, the victim’s brother told DC.

The family has alleged that they were given different reasons over phone. “The HR person said he was strangulated by a TV cable and then changed details in the earlier version saying the body was found in the kitchen. Similarly, they kept changing their versions,” Mr Akbar added.

Company officials finally told the family in Hyderabad that the local police had to be brought in to break a door down to retrieve the body. According to the latest information, the body has been sent for post-mortem.

“We urge the government to send us my brother’s body as soon as possible. Aktharuddin’s mother has been admitted to hospital as she fell ill immediately after hearing about her son’s death,” his brother said.
