Tanuvas students secure most research fellowships
Chennai: Students from Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (Tanuvas) have bagged as many as 20 junior research fellowships (JRF) after clearing the national level exam.
The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) every year conducts competitive examination at the national level to select meritorious candidates to award fellowships to pursue their post-graduation and Ph.D.
In ICAR’s All India Entrance Examination for Admission 2016, Tanuvas secured the first position with its immediate passed out students bagging 20 JRFs under Veterinary and Fisheries Sciences. ICAR deputy director general N.S. Rathore presented the award to Tanuvas vice-Chancellor S. Thilagar at a conference in Delhi recently. In a release, the university said, “It is a coveted award and much sought by the agricultural universities in the country and it is considered as a major performance indicator for universities in receiving grants for accreditation and for national ranking.”
The candidates are provided with stipend and contingency grant during their study. They are also permitted to select their institution of choice for pursuing their degrees.
