Pannyan Raveendran slams cops on law and order breach
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPI central secretariat member Pannyan Raveendran on Monday allegd that a section of policemen is conniving with criminals to derail rule of law in the state. The CPI leader said the LDF government cannot afford to allow such cops to hold the system to ransom. “If required throw the erring cops out. A section of cops had clearly connived with the criminals in the actor molestation case and Jishnu Prannoy case. These are not lapses on the part of police but a devious and well planned strategy to side with criminals, derail investigations and deprive victims of justice,” he told DC.
The CPI leader said that freedom given to police is for protecting the life and property of citizens and not for sabotaging cases against powerful criminals. In Jishnu’s case now evidence is coming out as to how a section of cops tried to sabotage the case right from the time of registration of FIR and during investigations, he added. Pannyan said what a section of cops did in the case of Pulsar Suni was not only a lapse but a well staged drama to provide safe passage to the criminal. “The cops behind this grave lapse should be held accountable. LDF government should send a strong message that it will not tolerate criminals in force,” he added.
