Memorandum to have NGO mentor Kochi Smart City
Kochi: Kochi Metro Rail Limited has signed a memorandum of understanding with World Resource Institute (WRI), a non-profit, non-governmental organisation, for making the agency as mentor and provide intellectual assistance to KMRL’s endeavours, especially for Cochin smart city mission. The MoU has been signed on Tuesday by Thiruman Archunan, director (Projects), KMRL and Jaya Dhinda , strategy head, Integrated Urban Planning (WRI) in the presence of Elias George, MD KMRL.
The MoU envisages providing technical assistance to develop conceptual urban design plan for the area with a focus on prioritizing walking and cycling, as well as public space creation. The agency will also help to develop or review the conceptual designs for conservation of heritage and culture, assist in organising workshops and training programmes for stakeholders and support KMRL in implementation of identified projects. The initial assignment is for one year, extendable up to three years. The service is on pro-bono basis.
