It's Singapore Calling' for Gitam FinTech students
Visakhapatnam: The first batch of MBA (FinTech) program from Gitam University would go to Ngee Ann Polytechnic in Singapore this month end to explore the opportunities and latest innovations in financial technology space. A team of Ngee Ann Polytechnic has recently visited Gitam Institute of Management and Fintech Valley in the city. Both the educational institutes have partnered for a joint research, and faculty-cum-student exchange program. As a part of this, 12 MBA FinTech students and faculty members from Gitam would start for Singapore on December 31.
Gitam FinTech Academy co-ordinator Leben Johnson said, “Our students would have strong hands-on experience in cyber security, business analytics and other tech-based platforms at Ngee Ann Polytechnic for a week. They would also visit Singapore-based companies in FinTech space such as JP Morgan and Microsoft.” “Also, the students of Ngee Ann Polytechnic would come to Gitam in March and September next year for the student exchange program and cultural exposure trip in India. The students are future ready when compared to engineering and other university students,” he said.
Gitam launched FinTech Academy a year ago and there are 17 students in the first batch. The admissions for the next batch are in progress and March 17 is the last date for applications. The deemed university will conduct an internal entrance exam and give admission to 40 students who secure above 60 per cent. “FinTech is the next wave of disruptive technology and it will stay for a long time in the industry. Lot of corporate firms are waiting for the fintech graduates. There is a need to promote students with artificial intelligence, machine learning and real-time analytics,” said Mr Johnson. Gitam has also signed an MoU with APEITA and Broadridge Financial Solutions India to set up a centre for blockchain technology. It has signed another MoU with Reuters to set up their Innovation App studio to explore market data analytics.
