Repairs for temple of Goddess Vakula, the mother of Lord Venkateswara
Tirupati: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Trust Board during a meeting held at Tirumala on Tuesday decided to rebuild the temple of Goddess Vakula, who is considered to be the mother of Lord Venkateswara. Speaking to mediapersons after the board meeting, TTD chairman Ch Krishnamurthy said the bourd had directed the engineering wing to prepare estimates for the redevelopment of the temple located at Peruru Banda in Tirupati rural mandal.
He said the board had sanctioned Rs 10 crore to the Tirupati Urban Development Authority towards the electrification and beautification of the 200-feet road from Renigunta Junction to Kalur village in Tirupati rural. According to the chairman, the board discussed arrangements for New Year, Vaikunta Ekadasi and Dwadasi, when the Lord Balaji witness a huge rush of devotees.
The board resolved to send proposals to the government towards the creation of 447 posts of archakas and paricha-rakas in TTD temples and sub-temples. The board also decided to enhance the salaries for 150 consolidated drivers from Rs 15,189 to Rs 24,500 and also extend the services of 176 contract potu workers for one more year. Those who attended the meet included TTD executive officer D. Sambasiva Rao, endowments commissioner Anuradha, Trust Board members, Kolla Lalitha Kumari, Pilli Anantha Lakshmi, Dr Dolla Sree Bala Veeranjaneya and others.
