NIA court verdict today on Hyderabad blasts
Hyderabad: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) court will pronounce its verdict on the Dilsukhnagar blasts on Monday.
The trial of Indian Mujahideen’s (IM) top operatives — Yasin Bhatkal, Asadullah Akh-tar, Zia Ur Rehman, Tehseen Akhtar and Ajaz Shiekh — was completed earlier.
The court examined 157 witnesses during the trial. During the probe, Yasin Bhatkal was picked up from Nepal along with Asadullah on August 29, 2013, by NIA on the Indo-Nepal border. Tehseen and Zia were arrested six months later.
At the trial, NIA claimed that Asadullah, Zia and Tehseen conducted a survey of the city and decided to target Dilsukhnagar as it was a predominantly Hindu area.
The National Investigation Agency said they committed the terror act as per instructions from their boss Riyaz Bhatkal, who was in Pakistan. The NIA claimed that Asadullah and Tehseen parked two cycles with Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) kept inside a pressure cooker. The NIA found that Zia can assemble IEDs, and during the probe he demonstrated his ability to make an IED.
The National Investi-gation Agency also found that IEDs were stored in their hideout in Mangalore. At least 17 people were killed and around 130 others were injured in the twin blasts in Dilsukhnagar on February 21, 2013.
