Follow new Land Act, pay compensation: HC
Hyderabad: Justice T. Vinod Kumar of the Telangana High Court directed the HMDA to follow due process and pass an order of compensation under the new Land Acquisition Act.
The judge was dealing with a contempt plea filed by K. Vittal Reddy, alleging that the HMDA had not complied with a court direction to pay compensation in respect to land acquired for the ORR in 2009 in Kandlakoya, Medchal, as per the new Act within three months.
Standing counsel representing the HMDA said the authority intended to pay compensation as was informed to the court during the previous hearing.
The judge pointed out that no award had been passed yet, and the due process of law not followed. Justice Vinod Kumar directed the HMDA to issue notice to the petitioner within a week, upon which any objections were to be filed within one week and the award needed to be passed within four weeks under the new Act. The judge will hear the matter on December 2.
