Shamna Tasnim's parents to approach CM Pinarayi Vijayan
Kochi: Peeved over the approach of Kochi police in probing the death of medico Shamna Tasnim, her parents and relatives are planning to approach Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan seeking to entrust the probe with a woman IPS officer. Shamna’s father K A Abootty is set to seek an appointment with the Chief Minister in this regard on Friday. Meanwhile Assistant Commissioner of Police Mr Binoy M met the forensic team at Alappuzha Medical College including Dr Liza John on Thursday to discuss Shamna case.
The forensic surgeons understood to have told the police officer that the disparity in the medical records of nurses and doctors was serious and also the alterations seen in the Xerox copies. It is learnt that the police officer was told that police have a duty to probe it. It is also learnt that the police officer took the statements of a group of students on the death of Shamna the other day. The students learnt to have told the cop that there were no medical lapses in attending to Shamna.
However, this is understood to be contradictory to the statement of two students immediately after the death of Shamna. The parents and relatives doubt that the fresh attempt to collect the statements of the students is to derail the probe. Hence they are planning to approach the Chief Minister with the fresh plea to change the investigating officer. The District Medical Officer Dr N K Kuttappan had rejected the plea of Shamna’s father to include experts from medical college as invitees on the medical board which he had rejected. This had caused serious heartburns to them.
