Kerala: Gangsters try to abduct Sub-Inspector

Armed miscreants drag the officer to car, leaves him on the way

MALAPPURAM: A gang of miscreants tried to abduct Sub-Inspector A. Abhilash of Thenhipalam police station during a routine vehicle check on NH 66 at Kohinoor near the University of Calicut late on Wednesday night. Four men in the car, which carried weapons, including two iron rods, two swords and other locally made arms, dragged the officer into the car and drove off all of a sudden during the search.

The other officers who were accompanying the SI chased the car in the police vehicle. However, the attackers disappeared after leaving the car and the officer on a road on the university campus, more than a km from the place they were stopped for inspection. “We have launched an investigation to nab the gangsters,” said Mr Abhilash. The Thiruvananthapuram registered car was taken into custody along with the weapons.
