Kannur killings: BJP holds 3 protests

They alleged that ever since Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan assumed office, BJP and RSS workers were targeted by the CPM.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: For the first time, the BJP organised a protest at three venues simultaneously in Thiruvananthapuram against the atrocities of the CPM in Kannur district. The Mahila Morcha led a march to the Assembly, while another group of BJP leaders went on protest march to police commissioner’s office and then to the Secretariat. They alleged that ever since Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan assumed office, BJP and RSS workers were targeted by the CPM. The Secretariat march was inaugurated by BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan which saw BJP supporters from Parassala, Kattakada, Neyyatinkara, Nedumanagad and Attingal Assembly constituencies.

“BJP is requesting to Pinarayi Vijayan to do his role as a Chief Minister. When the CM is expected to ensure peace in the region and is not doing it, then the Governor has to intervene. BJP will definitely co-operate with it as we think it is the responsibility of the BJP,” Mr Kummanam said. He also urged to Mr Vijayan that he should be willing to see people as a whole. The second march which started from Vellayambalam Manaveeyam Road was inaugurated by former state chief V. Muraleedharan. He lamented that the CPM is resorting to attack even public servants.

“The CM’s speech in the Assembly condemning attacks in Kannur was surprising. Despite being in Kannur for two days, he never bothered to visit the slain BJP supporter’s ho-me. He should grow up as a CM,” Muraleedharan said. The third march which began from Museum Junction to the Legislative Assembly complex was led by scores of Mahila Morcha supporters was inaugurated by BJP MLA O. Rajagopal. “CPM has got a scare seeing the strides made by the BJP. CPM has become a regional party. Women, children and dalit are facing the brunt of the attack from the CPM. Police force has also become inactive where they tend to listen to only the CPM”, said Rajagopal.
