Kurnool: Nandyal district SP K. Raghuveer Reddy on Wednesday suspended a constable and five home guards of police department following a video that went viral showing them playing cards within the holy Srisailam Devasthanam premises in Nandyal district on Ganesh Chaturthi.
All of them had been posted within the Srisailam temple campus to take care of security. They had been allotted a room near the main temple premises to take rest. However, a video of them playing cards in the accommodation they had been allotted went viral on Monday evening.
The video raised concerns about vigilance and discipline within the temple security personnel.
Srisailam circle inspector Diwakar Reddy investigated and confirmed the indiscipline when higher officials inquired about it on Tuesday.
Sources said the SP has deputed a DSP-level official to again check and provide his remarks. Based on the DSP’s report, Raghuveer Reddy suspended the constable and the home guards.
