Woman’s suicide bid thwarted

The woman, who turned up at Lakshmi Petrol Pump at Kachiguda, allegedly snatched the pump gun and tried to spill petrol all over the place

Hyderabad: A fuel station at Kacheguda had some anxious moments as an unidentified woman tried to immolate herself to protest against the owner of the petrol bunk for selling adulterated fuel.

The woman, who turned up at Lakshmi Petrol Pump at Kachiguda at around 4.30 pm on Wednesday, allegedly snatched the pump gun and tried to spill petrol all over the place.

The management had to resist the woman who was aggressive by pushing her away before she could trigger the gun. She accused the petrol pump owner of mixing kerosene with petrol, according to the police.

Kachiguda police received a dial 100 call from the petrol pump employee and rushed to the spot, but by the time they reached the place, the woman left the pump.

Meanwhile, civil supply officials got into action, collected samples of petrol and are likely to book a case of adulteration against the petrol pump owner.
However, police sources revealed that the same woman, who introduced herself as Jayanthi, a representative of a social organisation and accompanied another local woman who tried to die by suicide due to domestic issues to the police station, in a separate incident, the Kachiguda police said.

The videos and pictures of the woman creating a scene shot by one of the petrol pump employees went viral on social media.

“We visited the scene, but so far no complaint has been lodged. If there is an adulteration case, the civil supplies department will look into it,” Mohammed Habeebullah Khan, Kachiguda police inspector said.
