Medical college bribery: BJP leader K Surendran foresaw' scam
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP leader K Surendran had in a facebook post on Monday said “there are reports of allegations of corruption in the sanctioning of new medical colleges” but, interestingly, there was no such allegation in the public space. That points to a bitter rivalry within the party. Surendran has come under the wrath of the party yet again after his post that there was an internal inquiry on the medical college scam. He claimed in his Facebook post that several private self-financing medical colleges had got recognition after giving bribes.
“It is surprising that neither the media nor political parties have come forward to end the trading for medical college recognition. A major battle will have to be waged to fight against the fleecing by the medical colleges”, said Surendran. Interestingly, Suredran’s post has not gone down well with the party leadership. His group leader, former BJP State president V. Muraleedharan had told reporters in front of the Secretariat that the BJP would not tolerate corruption and whoever was involved in the scam would be dealt with sternly.
This is not the first time Surendran has come to know of an issue before hand. It can be recalled that when CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury was heckled by hanuman seva activists at AKG Bhavan in New Delhi, angry protestors of the BJP and RSS had taken to the streets in Kerala. BJP’s Thiruvananthapuram district committee office at Tutors Lane at Statue faced the brunt of the attackers and even country bombs were hurled. In fact Surendran posted on his Facebook page several hours in advance that the BJP district committee office in the capital city has been attacked, revealing that Surendran had jumped the gun.
