CafIT to rejuvenate IT sector with tech conference
KOZHIKODE: Calicut Forum for IT (CafIT) is all set to organize CafIT Reboot-2017, an annual tech conference of IT professionals and aspirants in the region to promote IT industry in the Malabar region. The programme will be held on July 29 and July 30 at the Government Cyber Park. The highlights of the event are a technology seminar, job-fair and IT expo. CafIT president PT Haris told DC that it was taking place at a time when the IT world was worrying about the reduction in manpower citing financial crisis.
“CafIT is offering jobs for deserving candidates in the job fair in which nearly 50 IT companies in the region would absorb as many as 500 new employees”, he said. Talented and successful CEOs of many IT companies would share their experiences in the conclave. “More than 30 IT companies of Kozhikode would showcase their products at the event”, he added. “A select group of dignitaries from key sectors of IT would be guests of honour at the function for whom the IT facilities of the city would be showcased”, he said.
Focussing on engineering students from institutions across the state, the registration for the programmes has already gone up more than 1600 within a few days of announcing the event. The organisers were expecting only 3000 candidates and are worrying about expanding facilities to accommodate all. Started in 2009 with four members, CafIT came to the limelight in 2014 by opening the first IT hub of the city namely ‘CafIT Square’ at Hi-Lite City. The IT-hub has 15 companies now and the total number of members of the initiative has also increased to 45.
