Can't grant Nalini release: Madras High court

Chennai: The Madras high court on Wednesday said unless and until the litigation before the Supreme Court on the same issue reaches finality, the prayer (plea) sought for by S. Nalini for early release cannot be granted.

She is serving life sentence in Vellore prison for her involvement in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination, Justice M. Sathyanarayanan disposed of Nalini's petition, which sought to direct the state government to consider her representation for early release under the Scheme of Premature Release of Life Convicts, who had completed 20 years of actual imprisonment.
