Kozhikode: Work on Ghat road in full swing to reinstate traffic

Meanwhile, KSRTC is conducting chain services to Chippilithode both from Kozhikode and Kalpetta.

KOZHIKODE: The district administration is on with all measures to ensure that traffic through the Ghat road will be normalised within a week, though it will take more time to have a permanent construction.

District collector U.V. Jose told DC that a strategy will be finalised on Thursday after a visit to the spot. “I feel we will be able to normalise traffic within one or two weeks”, he said.

Meanwhile, KSRTC is conducting chain services to Chippilithode both from Kozhikode and Kalpetta. Though the number of passengers is less, the services has come as a breather for regular passengers. The police ensures one way for light and medium vehicles (LMV) as LMVs from Wayanad were directed though the narrow road to Adivaram from the fourth curve while LMVs from Kozhikode side were allowed to pass through the damaged portion. Works are on in full swing to reinstate vehicular traffic as soon as possible.

Most of the heavy vehicles, including long route buses and inter-state trucks, are travelling thorough the Kuttiadi Ghat road. Trucks from Southern parts of the state are also travelling through the Nilambur-Nadukani-Sulthan Bathery route.
