Woman alleges rape by Swami Gangeshananda's former aide

The 23-year-old has been ordered to file her version by Thursday.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The woman who bobbitised godman Swami Gangeshananda has filed a police complaint alleging that she was sexually abused by her male friend Ayyappadas who was swami’s former aide. Though earlier she claimed she cut off swami’s male part to thwart a rape attempt, she later retracted from her statement. She claimed before defence lawyer that she did the act after being pressurised by Ayyappadas.

Ayyappadas filed a habeas corpus before high court and in response the woman filed new case before Pettah police. She now claims that she was sexually abused at Nettachira, Nedumangaud by the man on the pretext of marriage. She told in the complaint that he swindled '8 lakh from Swami Gangeshananda and took Rs 6.6 lakh from her family also. Also, he illegally restrained her and family in the house on the day of bobbitisation. Also, she was pressurised to give a statement against Swami

Court admits petition for brain mapping

In yet another development, POCSO court has admitted the petition by prosecution to conduct brain mapping and polygraph test on the alleged rape victim who bobbitised Swami Gangeshananda. It has now ordered the 23-year-old law student to summon before it and file her version on this by Thursday. The ruling came as prosecution filed a petition pointing out the woman has been inconsistent with her statement. She turned hostile and revealed to the defence lawyer that she was not sexually abused by Swami.

Swami’s bail plea rejected

The special court also dismissed Swami Gangeshananda’s bail plea. The defence lawyer contested that the godman should be allowed bail as the primary inquiry was completed by the police. However, the court accepted the argument by prosecution that the case was still in a preliminary state. Now a medical report citing the condition of Swami will be produced before the court next week. Based on this, court will decide on the bail.
