Oommen Chandy murder attempt case put off to December

Mr Chandy was injured in the forehead, however, K.C. Joseph, who sat with him escaped unhurt in the stone pelting.

KANNUR: The Kannur sub court on Tuesday adjourned the murder attempt case on former chief minister Oommen Chandy to December 20. Earlier, the court had summoned all the 114 accused in the case and on Tuesday, only 87 accused turned up. Payyannur MLA C. Krishnan and Dharmadom former MLA K.K. Narayanan did not turn up before the magistrate. Both of them had been named accused in the chargesheet.

It was in October 2013, that the former chief minister was attacked while he was on the way to inaugurate the valedictory function of the Kerala Police athletic meet in Kannur. Stones were pelted at his car and blackflags were hurled at him. Mr Chandy was injured in the forehead, however, K.C. Joseph, who sat with him escaped unhurt in the stone pelting. Krishnan and Narayanan were the first and second accused in the case.
