Kids with special needs taught asanas

Coimbatore: Students and teachers of the Kaumaram Prashanthi Academy for children with special needs were introduced to basic yoga asanas courtesy yoga trainers of Adiyar Yoga Institute.

This event was hosted at this academy's campus that is located in Chinnavedampatti here. For the majority of children, this was the first time they are practising yoga. Also, this is the first time that yoga trainers are travelling outside their institute to induct people into yoga. Speaking to DC after hosting the training session, V .Senthil

Kumar, founder and director of Adiyar Yoga Institute, said "we took up this activity as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project for International Yoga Day celebrations."

While Rishikumar Santosh led the Hatha yoga asana session, laughter yoga therapist Sathyapriya involved the participants in the session of laughter yoga that left the participants relaxed. As part of this programme Bhakti yoga session with group chanting and dance was hosted for the children.

Around 150 teachers, students and their parents participated in this special programme. Motivated by the success of this event, Adiyar Yoga Institute plans to host such sessions in the future on a regular basis.
