Property dispute erupts after couple succumbs to Covid

Daughters approach Nizamabad police, but they refused to intervene in a civil matter

NIZAMABAD: Three Covid deaths in a family brought not only untold grief but also led to property disputes with the ‘victims’ approaching police here on Thursday seeking justice.

Retired staff nurse Shakuntala, 59, of Chandrasekhar colony and her husband Samuel, 63, succumbed while undergoing treatment at GGH recently. Their son Sanjay, a private employee in Hyderabad also tested positive for Covid-19 and succumbed in Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, the daughters Lalitha and Anitha also tested positive but recovered. During their infection, the daughters served their parents, who owned a house in the colony and agriculture lands in Mettu village of Makloor mandal.

Meanwhile, Sanjay’s widow reached Nizamabad and allegedly evacuated Lalitha and Anita from her in-law's house. Reportedly, the daughters demanded a share in the properties, but Sanjay's family bluntly refused it.

The daughters approached police in Nizamabad, but they refused to intervene in a civil matter. The family members are planning to approach the court while some elders are hoping to settle the issue amicably.
