Hyderabad: Rs 8.5 lakh stolen from man in bus

The victim, Selva Kumar, 50, was carrying the cash to make payments to his business clients in Hyderabad.

Hyderabad: A Chennai based businessman who was coming to Hyderabad, lost Rs 8.5 lakh which he was carrying in his laptop bag on Saturday in Narketpally.

The victim, Selva Kumar, 50, was carrying the cash to make payments to his business clients in Hyderabad. He had wrapped the cash in a plastic bag and kept it in his laptop bag.

On Saturday night when the bus halted at Narketpally, he left his laptop bag containing the cash in on the seat and went to use the loo. The co-passengers of the bus said they saw a tall and clean shaven man who was in the seat next to that of Mr Kumar alighting from the bus and boarding a white Indica car which was following the bus.

When Mr Kumar returned to the bus, he found the bag open and cash missing. On his request the bus driver tried to chase the car, but in vain.

“Investigation is underway and we are trying to identify the suspect,” said Mr. Govardhan, Sub Inspector of the Narketpally police station.

Some co-passengers also accused the police of unnecessary delay in conducting the inquest, causing inconvenience to women passengers in the bus.
