BIRRD Hospital to hold medical camps across AP

BIRRD hospital provides free treatment for those affected by poliomyelitis, congenital anomalies, cerebral palsy

Nellore: The TTD would offer free medical services to the people across the state through their BIRRD Hospital (Balaji Institute of Surgery, Research and Rehabilitation for the Disabled).

TTD chairman Y.V. Subba Reddy disclosed this while inaugurating a mega medical camp at Markapuram in Prakasam district on Saturday.

He said the medical camps were being organised as per the directions of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy in every district of Andhra Pradesh.

Referring to BIRRD Hospital established in Tirupati with 50 beds and two operation theatres in 1985, Subba Reddy said the institute now has 300 beds and 12 operation theatres.

BIRRD hospital provides free treatment for those affected by poliomyelitis, congenital anomalies, cerebral palsy and correcting deformities by surgical intervention and artificial limbs. State-of-the-art-technology is being used in the treatment of spinal injuries.

All donations to the hospital are exempted from income-tax under 80(G) of the IT Act. The names of donors who donate Rs 5 lakh will be displayed along with their photographs in the hospital. TTD offers free darshan with aarti for five members for three days in a calendar year.

One room will be named after the donor who donates Rs 10 lakh or more. A silver memento engraved with the images of Lord Venkateswara and Goddess Padmavathi would be given to the donors of Rs 5 lakh and Rs 10 lakh.

Meanwhile, education minister Adimulapu Suresh, Markapuram legislator Kunduru Nagarjuna Reddy, Giddalur legislator Anna Rambabu and Markapur civic body chief Ch Balamurali Krishna took part in the inaugural function of the mega medical camp at Markapur on Saturday.
