Maharashtra Government warrant on Chennai suspect

Maharashtra police top brass had written to the TN DGP seeking assistance to track and arrest Abdul Jaffer who was holed up here.

Chennai: A 41-year-old man was picked up from the city after Maharashtra Government issued orders of detention against him under Conservation of Foreign Exchange and Prevention of Smuggling Activities (COFEPOSA) Act, in a customs case, on Monday. Sources said the Maharashtra police brought a warrant and approached the city police to help execute the warrant on the suspect identified as Abdul Jaffer (41).

The resident of Royapuram was picked up from T. Nagar. He will be taken to Maharashtra and will be lodged in a prison there and the orders of detention under COFEPOSA will be served on him subsequently.
