Thiruvananthapuram: LDF convener Vaikkom Viswan expressed the hope that the LDF would romp home at the Malappuram by-election. Backing CPM secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan’s earlier statement that the election would be an assessment of the LDF ministry’s governance, Vaikkom Viswan also said that they would approach voters and explain the slew of projects of the government. He was talking to reporters here after the LDF meeting at AKG Centre where the Malappuram by-election was discussed.
The LDF convener said youth leader M. B. Faiasal, who has been fielded, was a formidable candidate. “The need of the hour is that the people have to speak up against communal forces. Don’t think that victory in Malappuram is not achievable for the LDF”, said Vaikkom Viswan. Earlier, Kodiyeri said in a statement that the hypocrisy of RSS, which spoke against violence and at the same time wielded knives to kill people, was seen at the Akhil Bharthiya Pratinidhi Sabha of the RSS at Coimbatore.
