KOZHIKODE: A delegation from the Lakshadweep will soon visit here to learn the success of the Kudumbashree functioning under the city corporation. The team is arriving to study the convergence empowering women as part of a memorandum of understanding between the island administration and the civic body. Dr Sadique, an islander who runs an NGO there, had done the preparatory works while working as a faculty member at KMCT. "Since I live in Kozhikode, I have heard a lot about the activities of the Kudumbashree women here," he said.
"Our women population is small. No big efforts are happening there to ensure their participation in such activities. Many women empowerment projects are yet to reach there. So we thought of replicating Kudumbashree." Ramsy Ismail, the project coordinator of Kudumbashree City Corporation, said they would share their success stories with the delegation. "We have plenty of such stories. They can easily replicate them on the islands," he said. "Earlier such delegations from Assam and Tamil Nadu had visited our centre to learn our activities here."
