Kerala: SSLC students in tears over maths paper
Kochi: Many students who appeared for the SSLC mathematics examination on Monday were in tears as the problems were too tough to crack. Similar allegations were also made regarding Plus-Two examinations. “Most of the questions demanded higher-level application which was too tough for the students to tackle in two-and-a-half hours. Normally 20 percent questions could be solved by students, but here that was not the case. Some bright students were confused about some of the answers though they had the correct answers which they could realise after coming out of the exam hall and by consulting the teachers.
“This level of testing is not expected in this exam,” said P.A. John, mathematics teacher at Holy Infants Boys HSS, Varapauzha. It is learnt that though no official complaints have been lodged yet, the authorities may review the matter. Meanwhile, there were also allegations that questions of the physics and economics examinations of state Plus-Two exams were from outside the syllabus. This was in stark contrast to the CBSE Class XII maths exam held the same day which was rather easy as reported by the students.
