Hyderabad: The state government will commence the construction of ‘self-respect buildings’ in the city for the Backward Classes in March. BC welfare minister Gangula Kamalakar, reviewed the progress of the BC Bhavans with the officials on Monday and instructed them to finalise the tenders by the month-end and start the construction works from March.
The minister directed the officials to complete the works by October and have it ready for inauguration on Dasara on October 24. Kamalakar directed that infrastructure facilities such as approach roads, electricity, drinking water, drainage, and so on be provided to BC Bhavans by the end of this month.
The minister stated that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao had allotted 41 BC Associations free prime land totalling 87.3 acres for the development of BC Bhavans at Kokapet, Uppal Bagayat, worth nearly Rs 4,000 crore, and Rs 95 crore for the construction of BC Bhavans which no other CM had done in the last seven decades.
"A few BC Associations came forward to construct buildings on their own. With this, the state government handed over land sites and the responsibility of construction to 13 BC associations. For the remaining BC associations, the state government will construct the buildings,” he said.
"The self-respect buildings for the Yadav and Kuruma communities being built by the government on 10 acres land in Kokapet at a cost of Rs 10 crore are nearing completion," Kamalakar added. Tenders for the remaining 18 buildings would be finalised by the end of this month, he added.
