Telangana: JAC alleges huge scam, urges CBI probe

However, the police dismissed the allegations, and said that selection was done purely on merit.

Hyderabad: The Telangana Unemployed JAC has alleged huge irregularities in the constable recruitment exam whose results were announced recently. It said many competent candidates were denied appointment while those with low marks got jobs. They demanded a CBI inquiry into the issue. However, the police dismissed the allegations, and said that selection was done purely on merit.

JAC chairman K. Manavatha Rai said the JAC has received a large number of complaints from across the state. He said, “Candidates who got 70 or 80 got selected while those with over 100 marks were rejected. Complaints on violation of reservation norms, especially women’s quota, also came. The investigation by state agencies cannot do justice. Only a CBI inquiry can do justice.”

Some candidates protested at police headquarters on Monday alleging that they were not selected despite scoring high marks. They alleged people from some castes and districts, who scored less got through the recruitment test.

However, the Telangana State Level Police Recruitment Board said that there are different cut-off marks for each district and that it was not appropriate to compare cut-off marks of one district with others. “The cut off marks for each district, each social category, (BC/SC/ST/-ABO-ST), special category, (NCC, MSP, CPP, CDI, HG) and women are different,” said Board chairman Dr Purnachandra Rao. They also added that the government has relaxed physical requirements for tribals.

“We have displayed all details in on www.tslprb on Monday. Candidates can check cut off marks for each district and categories. If they have grievances they can challenge the decision on the website itself,” Mr Rao said.
