Talasani inspects ruins of burnt building, assures victims\' families of all help

Hyderabad: The families of three persons who have been missing since the fire broke out at the Deccan Nightwear Sports Shop on Minister Road will be provided support from the government, minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav said on Saturday.

The minister, who visited the fire-ravaged building, joined some firemen on a snorkel to inspect the structure. He later told reporters that he had met with residents of the houses near the burnt building and assured them that any damage caused to their homes when the gutted structure is brought down would be attended to by the government.

After inspecting the building, Yadav said there was still a lot of material inside, and that a team of officials were studying the structural stability of the building. He said that after a fire accident in Ayyappa Society, officials had employed a method to use machines to cut through the building without impacting the structures around it. The team will submit its report and further course of action will be decided after that, he added.

“I am also the MLA for this constituency,” the minister said, adding that the government will assist residents in the basti whose properties are affected as part of this exercise.

Yadav said the families of the three missing persons were asking for information about their loved ones, and the government would keep them informed and provide any assistance they require. Referring to criticism from leaders from other political parties, the minister said: “This is the time to provide confidence to the people and not for criticism. The government will take appropriate action in this case.”
