KOZHIKODE: Actor Vinod Kovoor and noted chef Ummi Abdullah grabbed attention at the Khalbile Kozhikode taste-talks. The session with the theme Tastes of Kozhikode was rich with the experts present including Anees Adam of Adaminte Chayakkada, the new taste sensation of the city, and Rajesh Valiyaveettil of Paragon Group of hotels. Addressing the audience, Ms Abdullah said except for death, Kozhikodens ensure mouth-watering food in all affairs.

"Birth, marriage, reception of newly wedded couple, pregnancy and what not, without a long spread of food you can't think of a function," she said. She also detailed on various tastes of biryanis, indigenous items like Chatti Pathiri, Unnakkaya and many more. Actor Vinod Kovoor who was at the best of his spirits took away the audience to his school days. He recollected how his mother used to give him a boiled egg every day for meals along with curry which was regularly grabbed off by his foodie seniors.

Later he tried to save his eggs by burying them in rice which was also foiled by the seniors. "Food is a major attraction of Kozhikode. During the shooting of the film Ustad Hotel, I had to guide the leading lights of the film industry to all hotels of the city one after other every day," he said. "A blessed chef is the most talented artist, and I used to visit the kitchen to share my gratitude with the chef whenever I eat tasty food."
