KANNUR: Mr Donald J. Trump, the 45th US President, has been an inspiration for the Indian Naval Academy (INA) cadets at Ezhimala for many years! The long corridor of INA, which connects various squadrons’ buildings with cadets’ mess, has quotes from eminent persons across the world carved on plates. Among them is the famous Trump quote: “When somebody challenges you, fight back. Be brutal, be tough.” This was reportedly said by Mr Trump years back as a successful real estate mogul.
Mr Trump is also in the company of many other eminent personalities in the long corridor, including the 34th US president, Dwight D. Eisenhower. According to Tim McConnel’s 2010 book ‘Small steps on a long journey: A collection of thoughtful devotions,’ Mr Trump said these words to people who asked him what should they do in order to be successful business persons. The full quote reads: “When somebody challenges you, fight back. Be brutal, be tough, just go get them. Surround yourself with the best people, but don’t trust them.”
The INA corridor is adorned with many such inspirational quotes from world leaders, writers and successful persons. The corridor is meant for easy movement of cadets especially during monsoon. “A cadet’s day is tightly packed with many activities and each second and minute is precious which cannot be wasted. To avoid delays in movement during monsoon, the corridors connecting the buildings will help,” said an INA official.
