Road widening begins at Srisailam Temple

Owners of the shops in the surrounding areas have approached the High Court for a stay

Anantapur: Srisailam Temple authorities have started works related to widening the approach road to Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy and Goddess Bramarambika Shrine for convenience of devotees, whose numbers increase enormously on important days.

Prior to taking up the road widening, temple authorities had constructed a new Lalithambika Shopping Complex with 175 shops to accommodate the existing shops close to temple premises, which obstructed smooth flow of devotees. The shops had been allotted through lucky draw a few weeks ago.

Few of the shop owners did not participate in the lucky draw and have continued operating their shops ignoring directions of temple authorities. Left with no choice, authorities have started digging pits in front of the shops by closing access to the road. Owners of the shops have approached the High Court for a stay.

Srisailam circle inspector K. Diwakar Reddy has provided security for road widening.
