Kerala: Fake sanghi profiles got us low rating, rue comrades

Former Australian cricketer Moody clarifies he has nothing to do with rating agency.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Australian cricketer Tom Moody had to finally clarify on the social media, with an emoji of a face with tears of joy, that he has nothing to do with international rating agency Moody's Investors Service. All thanks to the pro-CPM and pro-RSS cyber warriors of Kerala. The clarification comes amidst charges raised by the pro-CPM profiles that their saffron counterparts have been faking their profiles to criticise Mr Moody for giving India an upgrade. And they have a point, too: they faced much embarrassment after the cricketer was barraged with criticisms and abuses from profiles of pro-CPM activists who, it was made out, mistook him as the man behind Moody's, the rating agency.

The pro-Modi camp lost no time pinning the comrades down, saying they could never differentiate between the two Moodys. As the troll war continued and hit the headlines, Mr Moody came out with the clarification in a humorous tone. "Thanks to all of you who had realise I don't work in the finance rating industry," he tweeted. The pro-CPM profiles put up a late resistance pointing out that the timelines of many profiles which sent abusive messages to the cricketer had earlier shared propaganda material of the Sangh parivar.

"The criticisms against Mr Moody were first reported by the pro-RSS media," said Shankar Das, a pro-CPM profile. "A social media activist, Advaid, had on his Twitter page exposed the fake profiles that had sent out those abusive comments, forcing many to withdrew their reports." He said the saffron side lost its grip on the cyber space after it started attacking Kerala for no reason. "Earlier it was easy for them to mislead people by posting edited pictures and claiming that they were of Gujarat," Mr Das said. "It works no more."
