DMK urges Election Commission to evict outsiders

Party wanted the EC to issue necessary instructions to find outsiders and to send them out immediately to prevent malpractices by the ruling party.

Chennai: Complaining that outsiders are staying in Aravakurichi constituency where bypoll was held on Saturday, the DMK appealed to the Election Commission to evict them.

In a petition the Election Commission, DMK Rajya Sabha MP R.S. Bharathi said that despite the mandatory instructions issued by the EC, directing all outsiders to leave the bypoll constituencies, a huge number of people are assembling near the polling booths, with an intention to capture the polling booths.

Without curbing such illegal activities, the officials allowed them to move freely around the entire constituency; which would ultimately affect the conduct of free and fair election, the petitioner said. The party wanted the EC to issue necessary instructions to find outsiders and to send them out immediately to prevent malpractices by the ruling party.
