KRMB office sought in Vijayawada instead of Vizag

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Water Users' Federation has urged the Union Jalshakti ministry to shift the headquarters of the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) to Vijayawada, and not Visakhapatnam.

Federation president A.V.G. Krishna Rao said that as per section 85(2) of the AP Reorganisation Act – 2014, the KRMB headquarters should be located in the successor state.

“Initially, the government has taken a stand to shift the KRMB headquarters to Vijayawada and the AP chief secretary has issued orders to this effect,” he said.

Krishna Rao said he learned that the state government was taking steps to set up the KRMB office in Visakhapatnam and requested a shift of the office from Hyderabad to Vizag. Following this, the federation sent an email to the Union minister as well as the Jalshakti secretary on Thursday.
