7th Pay Commission: Rubber Board sits on pension scheme

Rubber Board chairman A. Ajith Kumar said he was waiting for a government order.

Kottayam: The Rubber Board has not implemented the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission for pensioners, despite the Union government revising the pay and pension with retroactive effect from January 2017. "Despite many representations, the Union ministry of finance hasn't issued till date any orders," P.N. Narayanan Nair, president of the Rubber Board Pensioners Association told DC.

"It's humiliating to plead for the mercy of the government after dedicating most of our productive life for making the country a top producer of natural rubber in the world." Rubber Board chairman A. Ajith Kumar said he was waiting for a government order. "Once we get it, we will implement it," he told DC. Sources said, though an order from the finance ministry reached the Board for implementing the new pay scale for serving employees one and a half months before, they left pensioners in the lurch.
