Five beer bottles can be carried out of parlour: Kerala High Court
Kochi: The Kerala High Court has ruled that a person can buy beer from a beer parlour and carry it outside the parlour. The court has also ruled that there was no prohibition in the beer and wine parlours having multiple counters under the abkari rules. The existing bar regulations do not permit carrying liquor outside the premises of the bar. But the court has observed that the new regulation for licences of beer and wine parlours does not have such a stipulation.
The court has allowed carrying of beer and wine from the premise of parlours based on the new regulation. According to the ruling, a person can carry up to five bottles of beer from the premise of a beer parlour. Excise Commissioner Rishiraj Singh had imposed a ban on carrying beer and wine outside from the parlour premises.
