Ganesh idol immersion performed in a grand manner
Karimnagar: Marking the end of Ganesha Navaratri celebrations, the immersion of idols was held on a grand note with religious fervour under tight security in the erstwhile Karimnagar district area on Sunday.
In Karimnagar city, three immersion points were established at Manakondur Cheruvu, Chintakunta Canal and Kothapally Cheruvu. Officials made arrangements for the immersion of large Ganesha idols at Manakondur Cheruvu and for immersion of around 400 medium and small idols at Chintakunta Canala and Kothapally Cheruvu.
In Peddapalli district, about 1,000 idols were immersed at Godavari bridge by establishing around 20 platforms, and 285 idols were immersed at Goliwada railway bridge.
In the Jagtil district headquarters, officials established immersion point at Chintakunta Cheruvu for immersion of about 500 idols, and in Dharmapuri, at the Godavari river bank for immersion of around 600 Ganesh idols of surrounding mandals. In Korutla mandal, an immersion point was established at Maa Lakshmi Vagu for immersion of around 250 Ganesh idols.
At Chintakunta Cheruvu, municipal chairperson Bhoga Shravani slipped from the raft which tilted to one side while returning to the shore. Some volunteers got down from the raft while those on board grabbed Shravani and pulled her up.
In Rajanna Sircilla district, officials made arrangements for immersion of 1,667 Ganesha idols at the Manair river.
Police officials of the four districts made tight security arrangements and arranged huge cranes and deployed experts swimmers at each immersion point.
The immersion points were barricaded, as all water bodies were full due to the recent heavy rains.
The Shoba Yatra in the four districts was held on a colourful note with musical bands invited from Maharashtra, and local artists performing Oggu and Kolatam.
