Disqualification is by mistake, NORKA clarifies
Thiruvananthapuram: NORKA-Roots has maintained that the disqualification of its directors, including a noted NRK businessmen by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs was due to a mistake by the ministry and it was being rectified. NORKA-Roots Directors and leading NRK businessman M A Yusuff Ali, Ravi Pillai, Azad Moopen and M Anirudhan are among the list of hundreds of disqualified directors of various ‘shell companies’ that was published by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. The delay in filing financial statements for three consecutive years was the reason.
However, NORKA Roots chief executive officer K N Raghavan told DC that NORKA-Roots being a government owned company, had exemption as the financial statements had to be audited by the Comptroller and Auditor General and hence it would get delayed. “We came to know last week that the Ministry of Corporate Affairs had wrongly disqualified our directors also. We immediately contacted the Registrar of Companies in Kochi and also the Minister of Corporate Affairs. They were also convinced that there was a mistake in their filtering process and assured it would be rectified soon,” said Mr. Raghavan.
