Bharath Dharma Jana Sena ready to part ways with NDA

Mr Natesan has said that though the BDJS supported the BJP in the Assembly elections, it did not get due recognition in return.

Thiruvananthapuram: The BDJS has had enough of the BJP and is close to pulling out of the NDA's state chapter. It is likely to take a crucial decision in its state committee meeting to be held next month. The Bharat Dharma Jana Sena floated by SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellapally Natesan has been disenchanted with the BJP over its step-motherly attitude to the organisation. The central leadership has not cared to consider the various demands raised by the BDJS, including allocation of posts in various central boards. The state leadership led by Mr Tushar Vellapally has technically decided to launch a ‘non-cooperation’ movement against the BJP.

Mr Natesan has said that though the BDJS supported the BJP in the Assembly elections, it did not get due recognition in return. “We can’t go on watching the match from the gallery. The BJP state leaders invite us for meetings and protests and they expect us to garland them and leave. The NDA Kerala chapter does not exist anymore though we are yet to officially sever the ties with them,” Mr Natesan told DC. “The central leaders will consider their demands as per their convenience. We are unable to interfere in this cat and mouse game,” said a top BJP state leader. Mr Tushar and his party colleagues had stayed away from the public reception accorded to Union Minister of State for IT and Tourism Alphons Kannanthanam and also from the NDA meeting.

Vellapally Natesan calls on Chief Minister

Mr Vellapally Natesan called on Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at Cliff House on Tuesday triggering speculations about his party leaving the NDA. However, Mr Natesan said he wanted to seek the government's intervention to fill the retirement vacancies in SN colleges across the state. Most of the SNDP Yogam supporters are inclined to join hands with the LDF. KPCC president M. M. Hassan too had welcomed the BDJS to the UDF.
