Supervisory panel order favours Karnataka: S Ramadoss

As per the order Tamil Nadu would get only 2.60 tmc in the next ten days and it would not be enough for two days of cultivation.

Chennai: PMK founder S. Ramadoss on Monday said the Cauvery Supervisory Committee had acted in favour of Karnataka by ordering a release of 3,000 cusecs everyday to Tamil Nadu and demanded the immediate formation of the Cauvery Management Board.

As per the order Tamil Nadu would get only 2.60 tmc in the next ten days and it would not be enough for two days of cultivation. Only the release of 20,000 cusecs would reach the tail end places in the delta.

The present storage of 48.56 would not be sufficient for one month and samba crops could not be saved if the monsoon did not begin in the third week of October. It would lead to loss of investments by the farmers, he added.

Karnataka should release 71 tmc of water as per the Cauvery Water Dispute Tribunal’s final verdict and the supervisory committee should have ordered at least half of the quantum of water, Ramadoss opined.
