Spectacled cobra enters Vizag home
Visakhapatnam: A fully grown poisonous cobra entered a home in Narasimha Nagar, Visakhapatnam on Saturday, causing panic among residents. However, no harm was caused as professional snake catchers arrived at the scene in minutes and trapped the reptile.
The spectacled cobra was found coiled at the garden shed in the residence of P. Avadhani at around 6:30 am.
A distress call was made to President of Snakes Saver Society Foundation Kiran Kumar Rokkum. He and his team arrived at Avadhani’s residence in a few minutes and caught the reptile.
The incident raised concerns about the increasing intrusion of snakes into residential areas. Kumar Rokkum also highlighted the growing trend of snake encounters in urban areas. "We have been witnessing an increasing number of snake rescues in recent times. The intrusion of snakes into homes has become more common due to the rapid expansion of residential buildings and the absence of proper wildlife habitats in the vicinity," he explained.
He further stressed the importance of creating wildlife-friendly spaces amidst urban development to allow these creatures to find suitable habitats.
In case of future snake encounters or similar emergencies in the region, Kumar Rokkum urged residents to reach out to him for assistance at the dedicated helpline number: 8866368899.
