Park has necessary licences, businessman behind row: MLA P V Anvar
Malappuram: Nilambur MLA P.V. Anwar has denied all the allegations against him and a water theme park he partly owned at Kakkadampoyiil terming it was part of a "personal and political vendetta." “The park has all the necessary licenses and approvals from various government bodies and anybody can verify it. Allegations of flouting of laws are meant to tarnish my public life,” he told reporters here on Saturday.
He claimed that a Kollam-based businessman from whom he refused to accept a bribe of Rs 50 lakh to withdraw from a land dispute in Nilambur was behind it. He offered to follow if concerned authority ordered to shut it. “Murukesh Narendran, the owner of Kollam-based Narendran Polymers, is behind all the issues. I had offered help to his estranged family to resolve a land dispute, but he tried to influence me in many ways. When I refused to accept Rs 50 lakh, he started targeting my business concerns,” he said.
Mr Narendran’s estranged half brother and family were entitled to get 20 acres of the estate after the death of his father in law. “But he and his wife refused to give them the land, and I intervened in the case after his family members approached me,” he said. He also alleged that political vendetta by senior Congress party leader and former minister Aryadan Muhammed was behind the issues.
