Rail Hoons' ruin coaches of Alleppey-Dhanbad Express
Kochi: ‘Rail Hoons’, a group of anti-socials who deface public property, has reportedly hit for the third time in the space of 10 days in Southern region as three coaches of the Dhanbad-Alleppey Express were found with their graffiti at Shornur railway station on Friday. “Three coaches were found to have been spray painted with words ‘Rail Hoons’ , ‘FLMST’ , ‘BIGS’ , ‘RHS’ and ‘DKS’ when the train arrived at Shornur around 2 pm.
We suspect the graffiti must have been done when the train was at the Dhanbad railway station and asked the counterparts there to register a case,” a senior RPF officer said. The first such spray painting attempt was noticed at local DEMU in Trichy station on August nine and the second one on the rakes of Accident Relief Van stationed at Shornur station on August 16.
“We suspect the anti-social elements to be part of the international group as the incidents follow similar attempts in foreign countries. We’ve registered a case in connection with the defacement on August 16. CCTV cameras have been checked but without any luck. Further probe is on,” the officer said. A railway spokesperson said the coaches will have to be re-painted which involves “additional cost”. “It will be probed how the group members got access to the bogies for so long unnoticed. We also appeal public to alert us upon coming across similar incidents,” he said.
