CM Jagan to Release Rs 193.64 Crore into Bank Accounts of 80,686 Beneficiaries
VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will disburse financial assistance to weavers under the YSR Nethanna Nestham programme for the fifth year in a row, at an event in Venkatagiri in Tirupati district on July 21.
The CM would deposit Rs 193.64 crore directly into the bank accounts of 80,686 beneficiaries across the state via the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) at the press of a button and address a public meeting.
Jagan Mohan Reddy would leave the Tadepalli residence in the morning on July 21 and reach Venkatagiri. The public meeting is organised near the Visvodaya Government Junior College.
The Chief Minister fulfilled the promise he made to weavers during his 3,648-km Padayatra, by introducing the YSR Nethanna Nestham scheme. It benefits weavers with their own loom in upgrading their skills through a financial assistance of Rs 24,000 each year.
Heralding a Golden Era for Handlooms, the Jagan Mohan Reddy government is reviving the past glory of the weavers with unprecedented initiatives like this.
With this assistance, the weavers have been able to upgrade their looms with modern equipment like Jaccard, double Jaccard, lifting machines etc to produce quality garments with modern designs.
The YSRC government has, including the present disbursal, paid Rs 1,20,000 to each eligible weaver family under the YSR Nethanna Nestham. Since inception of this government in 2019, as high as '969.77 crore has been disbursed towards YSR Nethanna Nestham, Rs 1,396.45 crore towards weavers’ pensions and Rs 468.84 crore to APCO (including Rs 103 crore kept pending to APCO by the previous government).
The total amount spent under these three schemes alone for the welfare of weavers was '2,835.06 crore.
To provide international marketing facilities for handloom products, the government entered into agreements with multinational companies like Amazon, Myntra, Flipkart, Go coop, loom folks, Mirraw, Paytm, so as to increase the incomes of weaver families, an official release said.
The previous government had spent only Rs 1,442 crore in a span of 5 years towards the welfare of weavers, it claimed, and added that the present government spent a whopping Rs 3,706 crore in four years, which was nine times higher than the spent by the previous government.
