Swathi murder case: Ramkumar's father seeks action against police inspector

Shengottai police received the complaint petition but is yet to register an FIR.

Tirunelveli: Father of the Swathi murder accused Ramkumar has lodged a complaint with the Shengottai police against Tenkasi police inspector Balamurugan.

According to Shengottai police, Ramkumar’s father Paramasivam of Meenakshipuram in his complaint charged police inspector Balamurugan, who led a police team to nab Ramkumar on July 1 at around 11.30 pm, with cutting the throat of his son so as to prevent him from speaking out the truth in the murder of software engineer Swathi at Nungambakkam railway station.

Shengottai police received the complaint petition but is yet to register an FIR.
Speaking to DC on the complaint preferred by Paramasivam on the Tenkasi police inspector, Tirunelveli district police superintendent V. Vikraman said the police has four weeks to register a complaint that is believed to have lacked prima facie evidence as per the Supreme court direction in the Lalitha Kumari versus the state of Uttar Pradesh.

“The complaint in this case has been received and the complainant was given a receipt. However, an FIR will be registered only after some enquiry as per the Supreme court direction,” he said.
