Telangana HC seeks police’s stand on dharna

Counsel for the organisation informed the court that they have approached the DCP on 13 June.

Hyderabad: Justice A. Rajashekar Reddy of Telangana High Court on Wednesday directed the deputy commissioner of police, central zone, to inform the court by Thursday morning as to whether permission will be accorded to the Civil Liberties Committee to hold Dharna at Dharna Chowk, Indira Park, Hyderabad on June 23.

The Judge was dealing with the petition by the Civil Liberties Committee, which approached the HC seeking to direct the police to accord permission to hold a dharna.

Counsel for the organisation informed the court that they have approached the DCP on 13 June, with an application seeking permission to hold a peaceful dharna comprising of 150 persons protesting the illegal arrest and judicial remand of their leaders, Mr Varavara Rao and others who are languishing in Pune and Maharashtra prisons for the last one year.
