Quota law being ignored, protest JNTU Hyderabad students

University sources said that with the rule of reservation in place, there should be calls for interviews under different sections and classes.

Hyderabad: Violating norms of recruitment of professors based on the rule of reservations, the Students Union of JNTU-Hyderabad complained to the SC/ST Commission.

The students union of the ABVP has written to the chairman of SC/ST commission stating that the notification was issued on March 2, 2019 which is illegal and not according to the rules of the University Grants Commission.

Calling it gross injustice, students said that the government is violating the rules as it is mandatory to implement reservation in all departments and all levels of teaching.

ABVP working committee member J. Dileep explained, “Interviews for the professor posts are scheduled on June 21. We want the JNTU to follow the rule of reservation and not carry out the recruitment without following the due course of law.”

University sources said that with the rule of reservation in place, there should be calls for interviews under different sections and classes. But the government is yet to carry it out in that manner. The senior administration of JNTU was not available for comment.
